The model, actress, fashion designer, and executive producer, was born a small town to Gudrun and Heinz Schiffer, a lawyer. She has two brothers, Stefan and Andreas, and a sister, Ann Carolin (born 1975).

Originally she aspired to become a lawyer but at age 17, she was “discovered” in a nightclub in Düsseldorf.

Her first big break came in the early '90s when she starred in campaigns for Guess? was shot by Ellen von Unwerth and soon became the muse of 

She holds the record for the model with the most magazine covers, (over 1000) listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Claudia made her film debut in Richie Rich (1994). Later she starred in The Blackout (1997), in Love Actually (2003) besides others and released four exercise videos.

She also made cameo appearance in Ben Stiller’s Zoolander (2001).

Claudia is co-owner of a chain of Fashion Cafe restaurants along with Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Elle Macpherson.

She didn't get her ears pierced until 2006. 

Her favourite colour is green, she is is a fan of Prada clothing and loves skiing especially in the French Alps. Her favourite movie is Kick-Ass, she collects tortoises and loves taxidermy and insects. Beginning from childhood, the model's interest was initially focused just on spiders but now her home boasts an enormous collection of insects as well as a library of insect encyclopedia.

Claudia is fluent in German, English and French.

She is a UNICEF volunteer and a spokeswoman for breast cancer awareness.

There were rumors she was dating with Prince Albert II., but no evidence. Later between 1993 and 1999, she was engaged to the magician David Copperfield. She is married to the film producer/director Matthew Vaughn in 2002 and three children:  Caspar (2003), Clementine Poppy (2004) and Cosima Violet (2010). The couple has been rapped three times over their 'out of control' pets. According to the news their dog, Oscar (a German shepherd) killed a pregnant sheep and mauled two more.
