Daria Werbowy

She has an elder brother, Orest and elder sister, Oksana. The originally Ukranian family moved to Canada when Daria was 3.  Her father is her best friend. She considered herself to be a quiet, solitary child who was very shy. Daria grew up passionate about sports, including sailing, hockey, basketball, snowboarding and rugby.

Daria attended St. Sofia Ukrainian Catholic Elementary School and Cawthra Park Secondary School as a visual arts student.

She was offered to be a model by her schoolmate's mother. At age 14, Werbowy won a national modelling contest.

She is one of the Top 10 highest grossing supermodels for most of the past decade. In 2009 she broke the industry’s record for the most number of shows walked by a model in a single season.

Daria is one of the faces of Lancome in spite of the fact she is a heavy smoker.

She is a sailor and spent 3 months sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea in 2008.

Feeling dissatisfied with the modeling industry, Daria began to spend time building relationships, reading, meditating and doing Yoga. She went on a two-month backpacking expedition from Guatemala to Peru with her boyfriend, and they helped build a school there. They also went to a remote village in India and spent some time there.

She has a reputation in the business for being incredibly nice and polite and she keeps her own life very private. She was rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Josh Hartnett for a brief period. Daria is scared of social media but recently she has joined Instagram because her family asked her to. She lives in Ireland with her boyfriend Tom, who is a carpenter, and her 3 cats and the stray dog named Strawballz that had been adopted.

Her last name Werbowy means ‘willow tree’ in Ukrainian.
