Freja is openly lesbian but has never made official statements about her private life. Early in her career she was rumored to have relationships with fellow models Irina Lazareanu, Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee. Around 2012 she was also linked to British singer Anna Calvi, later to designer Kimberly Wesson and since 2019 with Dutch model Rianne Van Rompaey.
